Minas Basin operates two hydro generation facilities to supply electricity to the paperboard mills.

Minas Basin's corporate policy states that we will meet or exceed all environmental standards and regulations. We were the first mill in Nova Scotia, and one of the first in Canada, to be in total compliance with all Federal Pulp and Paper Effluent Regulations. Having used recycled fibre in one form or another since the early 1950's, we now use only 100% recycled fibre. Our recycling represents a reduction of approximately 10.8 million cubic feet of landfill space requirements each year.
